Mountain Glen at Mt. MansfieldThe Mt. Mansfield Company asked The Burley Partnership to plan and design these condominiums at the base of the mountain, in Stowe, VT. The site was a gentle slope with direct access to the lift and trail system. An important element of the architect's concept was to cluster the units around a new trout pond which, in addition to Mt. Mansfield, provides a visual focus for these mountain homes. All of the units view the pond, some with decks that overhang the water. Single and duplex buildings are mixed to give a variety of scale and form. The architectural design reflects the mountain location: shingled roofs with generous overhangs, gabled porches, timber posts, dark wood tones, and car sheds for winter snow protection. |
